My client, based in South Birmingham is a low cost assembler of a high variety of commercial lighting products have a brand new position for a Production Engineer to reinforce and develop their assembly operations with robust processes.
The main objectives of the role will be to ensure that the assembly operations are fully equipped, trained, laid out and organised to ensure consistant quality, lead-times, predictable costs and completion of all logistics operations
Job Description
Typical duties will be:
Input and maintain part numbers and descriptions of all items (complete products, components and spares)
Input and Maintain BOM's
Create and maintain assembly and test instructions, including the creation of 2D drawings for production
Research, select and buy appropriate tools and equipment to support the assembly operations and ensure proper usage
Fully train the assembly staff, both in their generic job role and specific products.
Liaising with the designers and reading and interpreting 2D drawings
Person Specification
Experience of working in a light manufacturing environment, preferably with an electrical content or Lighting is essential
Ideally be qualified in Production/Electrical/Electronic Engineering
Familiar with Autocad or similar for the creation of 2D Engineering Drawings
Familiar with assembly processes such as cellular manufacturing, Pull & Push systems, Kan-ban etc.
Experience of managing or leading a team
The ability to innovate and design new processes.
Experience of quality processes would be desirable
A methodical, logical and analytical approach.
