The Client

Leaders in their field - and with support. To support this growth this manufacturing company is seeking a product marketing manager to support this progress.

Responsibilities

  • Develop yearly/quarterly plans to grow sales and profitability of the category to deliver the product portfolio objectives in respect of volume, value, profitability, brand share and price index.
  • Plan and advise on category activity and strategy direction
  • Devise and drive category range plans and provide recommendations to maximise gross margin through product mix, price, channel management and lifecycle management.
  • Undertake research and analyse market/category/product data (competitor analysis, benchmarking, market research, price and market gap analysis) to gain category buyer and customer insights.
  • Translate insights and analysis into opportunities.
  • Develop strategies and plans and work with sales teams to drive category/product and brand growth.
  • Understand the market place and respond to opportunities and threats as they arise.
  • Monitor trends in competitive companies and react where appropriate.
  • Seek new commercial initiatives with potential to increase sales and profitability.
  • Deliver sales targets for consumables by account managing own accounts and visiting key accounts with SDA sales team.
  • Evaluate individual products - so that they drive the profitability of the category and overall offering.
  • In conjunction with sales and marketing team establish a rolling six month pricing, promotion and activity plan (National and Customer specific) to ensure that the product category achieves its stated goals.
  • Appreciation of the importance of legal and regulatory frameworks

Experience Required

  • A marketing graduate with experience in a category/product marketing role
  • Chartered Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing or Master Degree preferable
  • Experience of analysing, evaluating and developing new market sectors
  • 3+ years experience of Greenfield product management and sales responsibility
  • Well developed communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to work as part of an effective team (Work with central marketing team in Italy essential)
  • Commercial understanding and excellent analytical skills
  • Significant experience of successfully managing the launch of product, pricing and promotional activity. Must be able to manage tight budgets innovatively
  • The ability to read market opportunities and be proactive to create new profitable opportunities via products is key.
  • Ongoing up-to date Competitor analysis activity and knowledge of current and future forecasted next steps planning. Experience of using marketing data (similar to GFK) to support plans and decision making.

Rewards

Salary up to £35,000 (inc bonus)
