Procurement Specialist - Materials and Equipment

Job Purpose

This role is responsible for all aspects of the procurement process for specific supply markets covering Materials/ Equipment and some Project activity.

This will include:
Developing and maintaining appropriate market knowledge
Sourcing
Contract development
Negotiation
Tendering
Vendor performance management
Pre-qualification
Strategy development and
Post/order/contract work.

Dimensions

Contracts value - Cumulative up to € 5m per annum
Supplier Contracts to be negotiated 25 per annum
Individual Purchase orders Raised - 150 - 250 per annum
Number of Suppliers - 100

Principal Accountabilities

Design and develop procurement strategies for all material and equipment designated to the specialist. This may be critical, high value, complex equipment or high volume low complexity equipment that will achieve cost reduction value and benefit to all businesses on site.

Challenge demand and demand specification where they believe there are unnecessary costs which can be eliminated and more value can be achieved in saving cash.

Ensure that all Purchase orders are placed in accordance with site DOA and working within defined business processes to meet on requested due dates.

Establish a deep understanding of the supplier spend under their responsibility and its relativities within the market sector.

Provide expert advice on material risks, including in-depth market knowledge both commercial and technical. Use influence to encourage procurement change and engagement across the sites and businesses.

Develop and implement forms of contract that fully support our business needs, are legally binding, mitigate any and all commercial risk and drive appropriate supplier performance.

Identify new potential suppliers to create additional competitiveness to their commodity area of responsibility.

Contribute positively to cost saving targets for contracts and orders under their control.

Capture market knowledge for the business through recording and understanding of cost avoidance issues, price increases and market movements.

Through the development of appropriate procurement strategies, provide advice and assurance to assets/businesses on commercial risks and opportunities associated with procurement decisions and contract design.

Skills & Experience

Substantial purchasing experience(min 5 years) in a large complex manufacturing environment and have a proved track record of negotiation of high value contracts ( > €1m) that bring quantifiable benefits to the business

MCIPS qualified or working towards would be desirable

Expert negotiation skills
Strong financial awareness of cost drivers in the supply chain.

Must develop an advanced working knowledge of procurement tools

Fully understand the business processes of NRR/CAPEX and the relationship to the DOA by site and business.
