Organisation Description
This client is a global engineering consultancy with current interests in the Middle East on large infrastructure projects and mixed use developments.
In order to support one of these projects they have an immediate requirement for a Principle Mechanical Engineer to overseeing all aspects of the project implementation and contract administration, providing leadership and mentoring to the site team.
Job Description
The main duties of the role will include but not be limited to:
• Prepare reports as appropriate
• Provide expert technical and commercial advice to the client on all mechanical engineering matters
• Liaise with supervision personnel and advise on mechanical matters during construction activities.
• Draft new or update existing mechanical specification.
• Responsible for hydraulic design and selection of mechanical materials and fittings necessary for integration with civil design work, e.g. pump selection, surge calculations and equipment specifications.
• Be responsible for the preparation of design, specification and tender documents for all mechanical work.
• Be familiar with the various types of international conditions of contract e.g. FIDIC, NEC.
Person Specification
You must be fully qualified, with a min. MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering and Chartered, and be a member of a recognized international professional body. A minimum of 15 years postgraduate experience, 10 in the related discipline is essential and tunnelling or experience with substructures would be a distinct advantage.
You must also have experience in working within a statutory organisation or consulting industry, and be capable of reviewing and assessing the technical quality and production of a wide variety of related construction materials for appropriate application and implementation.
Experience working in the Middle East is essential
