These are exciting times and as a result of our growth we are now looking to recruit for an experienced Payroll Administrator to join our busy and well established team in Leyland. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded and established company that can offer real career progression.
This is a temporary position initially lasting 3 months to cover maternity.
Reports to: Payroll Supervisor
Responsible for: Ensuring that employee's are paid accurately and on time
Levels of Authority: Within authorised restrictions
Main Function of Job:
Responsible for the accurate processing of weekly and monthly payrolls, systematically working through all payroll related tasks by the set deadlines and in accordance with agreed service levels. Resolve external and internal queries within the agreed KPI targets.
Key Objectives & Responsibilities:
• To ensure the correct terms and conditions are applied in relation to all employees in respect of i.e. individual earnings, sick pay calculations.
• Ensures all paperwork (including timesheets) are authorised prior to being input to the payroll system.
• Import or manually enter timesheets on to the payroll system.
• Ensuring that all variable and permanent data received has been accurately processed and checked prior to the processing of payroll for payment.
• Carry out standard checking i.e. tax refunds, tax / NI calculations, pension calculations, high pays, low pays, NI categories applied etc.
• Calculating SMP,SSP,SAP manually in line with the HMRC rules on a daily basis
• Calculating gross to net pay manually in order to deal with employee queries , overpayments, checking payslips on a daily basis
• Responsible for collating, checking and processing disbursements in respect of tax, NI and CSA, AEO deductions etc.
• Complete and check all 3rd party forms within the set targets
• Maintain all employee records accurately and ensure they are current
• Processing P45, P6 and P46 documents in line with the HMRC rules.
• All correspondence from external and internal customers are booked in and out (via email / letter / telephone) using the post logging system and processed within the set targets.
• Resolves payroll queries on a daily basis according to agreed service levels.
• Liaise with the Senior Payroll Administrator to identify improvements to existing processes and procedures to enable department to be more efficient.
• Any other duty as agreed with the Team Leader or Senior Payroll Administrator
Relationships:
• To develop and build relationships with internal and external clients, promoting a client focussed highly professional Payroll team.
• Key internal relationships include; HR and Local administration team.
Key Skills:
• Strong organisation skills
• Attention to detail
• Good communications; written and oral
• Strong IT skills, Excel including Pivot Tables, Database systems, Word, PowerPoint.
• To be able to work flexibly to meet the demands of the Company
Job Related Experience:
Payroll experience
Aptitudes & Skills:
Experience of working as part of a team
Education / Qualifications:
• Payroll qualification - NVQ would be beneficial
Dimensions:
• Process between 600-800 weekly paid staff
