Organisation Description

An excellent opportunity for a Qualified Accountant to join this small and friendly charity based in West London. The role is permanent part time - 4 days per week.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Director of Finance will plan, manage and evaluate the effective operation of financial accounting and operational functions, while making a broader and significant contribution to the senior management team.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

Finance
• Manage day-to-day income and expenditure, investment income and cash flow.
• Prepare monthly expenditure reports for submission to the Department for Education, and management accounts, financial data and reports for the senior management team, the Finance Committee and the Board.
• Develop business plans to support projects initiated by the Strategy Committee.
• Annual budget preparation, monitoring and reporting.
• Annual accounts preparation to meet all statutory, SORP and best practice requirement, liaising with Centre Treasurers and auditors.
• Define, monitor and manage Gift Aid policies, processes and procedures and claims.
• Monitor and review policies, systems and processes to meet the needs of the organisation working with the Centres to ensure their implementation across the organisation.
• Develop the integration of financial reporting across the organisation.
• Monitor and implement changes in charity and company accounting policy.
• Manage banking arrangements.
• Develop and maintain excellent relationships with Centre management teams, the Charity’s volunteers and employees, and external agencies.
• Manage regular donations and legacies.

Operations:
• Manage and monitor employee payroll and pension arrangements.
• Be responsible for building management, cleaning, and other services.
• Oversee the strategic management of IT, communications, office equipment & supplies.
• Review and implement insurance cover.

Person Specification

Skills and qualifications
• Solid experience of financial management, within the charity sector if possible
• Strong interpersonal skills - with the ability to communicate with both finance and non finance individuals.
• IT literate
• Qualified as a chartered accountant or similar level
• Experienced in the use of Sage Line 50 (ideally)
