My clients in Berkshire are looking for an Optical Test / Design Engineer - Zemax, Lighttools.
This role is commutable from Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell, Camberley, Egham, Staines, Slough, Rickmansworth, High Wycombe.
The succesfull candidate will work as part of a dedicated team carrying out optical test & design of a wide range of novel optical systems. You must be a practical person who is self-motivated and can (if necessary) work independently.
During your initial development you will primarily be responsible for the testing of new LED's in the optical labs and will work closely with design colleagues to verify the performance of new designs. During this period your design capabilities will be nurtured so that after about 8-12 months you will be ready to fulfil a full-on design role.
Qualifications
Degree level in physics or physical science (or equivalent experience). An MSc/PHD in Optics would be advantageous.
Skills:
My clients are looking for someone who wants to pursue a career in engineering rather than research. You must be able to demonstrate that you have practical skills perhaps with a hobby related to engineering. It would be an advantage if you had previous experience in Optical Ray tracing (using e.g. Zemax, ASAP or LightTools).
It would be advantageous if you had any industrial optical engineering design experience or work experience with ProEngineer, plastic materials or injection moulding.
