GENERAL MANAGER / NURSING HOME MANAGER

Salary: £50,000 per annum + bonus
OVERVIEW
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Manager to join a high quality care provider, within a 100 bedded Care Home. The home provides, nursing and residential care; care for people with dementia; and support and care for people requiring intermediate care and respite.
Through professional and effective leadership, the General Manager will direct and implement effective, efficient and economic strategies, in order to achieve profitable growth and financial success, whilst maintaining consistent, evidence based, top quality standards of care and service in line with the company’s commitment to excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To be registered with the Care Quality Commission (CCQ) as Registered Manager for the Home and the Care Centre.
- Provide an 'evidence of excellence’ based approach to the effective delivery of consistent top quality care and service and to ensure the appropriate recognition of such by all stakeholders; e.g., CQC, Health & Social Care Commissioners’, and the local community.
- Ensure that the company’s Communication Strategy is effectively implemented at the Care Home and Care Centre.
- Lead on the development and implementation of person centred care and service within the Home and Care Centre. This is to involve establishing systems of involving the people we support in understanding their views of what is important to them.
- Implement a comprehensive system of quality assurance, involving a system of both internal and external audit and ensure consistent evidence based best practice and excellent rating by CQC (and their successors) and recognition by the local community as a centre of excellence.
- Whilst maintaining quality, assess operations including; fee income; resourcing; etc, and to report and implement agreed strategies designed to maximise profitability.
- Direct, plan and implement comprehensive and innovative marketing strategies in order to maintain a high quality profile for the home and to maximise the market potential and fee income.
- Design, implement and evaluate professional and effective, forward looking human resource strategies, in order to maximise the potential of each employee.
- Be fully conversant with, to advise on, and implement the Health and Social Care Act, the Health and Safety at Work Act, Data Protection Act, Employment Law and other relevant legislation.
- Promote, train and develop harmonious and effective relationships that promotes equality and values diversity between all employees, residents and their families, suppliers, healthcare professionals, the community and other stakeholders.
- Promote and implement total quality standards at all times and through 'leading by example’, to ensure that the company’s reputation for excellence is maintained and enhanced.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- First Level Nurse trained in general nursing (RGN) with live registration
- RMN or mental health qualification is highly desirable
- Management qualification with 5 years demonstrable experience of developing and implementing business plans and associated budgets
- Experience of managing high quality care home services at a senior level, including effectively managing change
- Working knowledge of the Essential Standards of Quality and Safety and the Care Standards Commission
- Experience of implementing and working knowledge of quality assurance with standards such as IIP, IS0, RDB
