Network Engineer

Our global client are currently seeking a Network Engineer to be based at their headquarters in Craigavon.

The Network Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. In addition, the Network Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.

Job Description

• Liaise with internal and external project managers on project deliverables.
• Advise on the technical deliverables of projects.
• Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
• Execute and deliver project tasks on time and to budget.
• Advice the UK Infrastructure Manager on Infrastructure Upgrades.
• Provide Management reports to senior IS Management on projects and support issues.
• Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
• Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration,.
• Design and deploy company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, hubs, switches, UPSs, and other hardware.
• Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
• Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
• Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
• Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
• Monitor and test network performance, provide network performance statistics and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
• Participate in managing all network security solutions.
• Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
• Manage and/or provide guidance to other members of the team.

Person Specification

• Third level qualification (or equivalent) with a strong computer element OR significant experience in a similar role may be considered in lieu of academic requirements
• Cisco CCNA
• Experience in the technical delivery of a project
• Previous experience in Change Management
• Experience of an ITIL based Service Management Solution
• Experience of Infrastructure Management Solutions such as Nagios, Cacti and SNMP
• Experience of using diagnostics tools to investigate Infrastructure problems
• Experience of Network switch installation and management
• Experience of HSRP, EIGRP, OSPF, Redundancy
• Proven ability to organise, plan and prioritise tasks within a high volume, varied workload
• Excellent Documentation skills
• Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products.
• Proven ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
• Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities
• Works well individually or in a group setting
• Ability to work under pressure and time constraints
