1.    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES 

  • Adherence to Engineering procedure, safe systems of work and current legislation.
  • Maintenance, repair and installation of all plant, machinery and services. 
  • Safe operation of engineering equipment and machinery. 
  • Completion of planned and preventative maintenance schedules and the relevant records of such activity.
  • Achievement of productivity and service targets in order to meet the needs of the business.

 Ideal candidate should be: 

  • Multi-skilled Engineer qualified to NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • IIE 16th Edition qualified
  • Minimum of five years experience in a high volume manufacturing environment
  • Able to read and understand engineering, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical drawings
  • Sound, working knowledge of health and safety procedure and relevant legislation, preferably with an IOSSH certification
  • Understand lean manufacturing tools and philosophy, preferably gained through  experience of a continuous improvement environment 
  • PC literate, including Microsoft applications and bespoke business systems
  • Customer focussed together with a quality and service driven approach
  • Able to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels within the organisation and with outside suppliers
  • Able to effect root cause analysis, fault finding and trouble-shooting activity
  • Able to maintain machinery and equipment to a high standard
  • Qualified FLT and Cherry-picker driver

  • Proactive in continuous improvement of current systems and processes, promoting such initiatives in order to support the needs of the business
  • Understanding of the need for preventative and proactive maintenance
  • Team-oriented
  • Flexible attitude towards working practices in order to support the team
  • Committed to colleagues, plant and organisation in order to achieve the targets and objectives as laid down in OGSM
  • Innovative, inventive and self-motivating with a real desire to succeed and to progress skills and knowledge
  • Provide training and assistance to other Engineering individuals in order to further their knowledge and skills where required
  • Offer advice and assistance to production operatives in order to promote best-practice and a greater understanding and awareness of engineering issues
  •  Effectively handover to opposite number at end and beginning of every shiftffectively communicate with all relevant personnel
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records
  • Attend meetings and reviews as and when required
  • Additional responsibilities as deemed fit by your immediate supervisor or line manager
