Menswear Designer
Leeds
Salary up to £24,000 depending on experience
Our client is a vibrant and recognisable fashion retailer. Due to their continued success they are now seeking a talented Menswear Designer to join their Design Team. Reporting to the Head of Design Menswear, the role is responsible for executing specific design briefs in a creative and commercial manner whilst adhering to and developing brand identity.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver a continuous flow of cads to meet specific briefs
* Develop an understanding of sales performance (best and worst sellers) of existing styles within the business
* Create designs with a clear understanding of the pricing architecture
* Research the market, including high street and niche retailers, websites, trade fairs and catwalks to develop the brand strategy
* Identify new opportunities at style and colour level
* Develop an understanding of garment construction, printing and finishing techniques to ensure relevant design packs
* Provide detailed spec sheets directly to suppliers with all relevant information to ensure quick and correct sampling and production
* Maintain the design archive for reference by the buying department
* Develop an understanding of supplier's abilities of specific factories
Essential Skills / Experience:
* Demonstrable track record of delivering commercially successful menswear designs, ideally for a leading high street retailer
* A genuine passion for design, retail and fashion
* Experience of using various design systems, including illustrator and Photoshop
* Proven illustration and graphic abilities
* Knowledge of garment make up and construction
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes and fabric types
* Experience of quality management (ensuring garments correctly executed)
