Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client design and manufacture high end precision micro joining products and systems for a wide range of industries including aerospace, automotive, telecoms and mass manufacturing.

The products and systems tend to be low volume, high value designed with the latest mechanical, electronic and electrical technology available and range from standalone joining products to fully automated manufacturing systems employing robotic and vision systems.

We are seeking an experienced and hands on mechanical design engineer/project leader to lead mechanical development products and projects.  The likely candidate will have at least 7 years relevant experience in the design of electro-mechanical products and/or systems with a thorough understanding of precision part design and manufacture.  A good knowledge of drives and controls coupled with a flair for innovative 3D conceptual system solutions would be ideal coupled with confidence and management skills to contribute at all levels across a wide range of engineering fields.

Experience and qualifications in some or all of the following subject areas would be particularly useful :-

3D design with AutoCAD Inventor

AutoCAD 2D

Demonstrable experience in drives/controls and precision part manufacture

Demonstrable analytical mechanical design skills

Dynamical mechanical modelling / simulation

Broad knowledge of materials

3D concept work, particularly with multi axis automation

Product concepts

High current welding
