Mechanical Design Engineer

This is an exciting position with the prospect to progress and develop with a forward thinking business based in the South Yorkshire area.

Key Areas

• equipment / plant layouts for materials handling and air pollution control equipment
• product design for the aforementioned equipment
• pipe / conveyor route design, loadings and layout
• pipe / conveyor support structure design, loadings and layout
• silo design, loadings and layout
• structural design

Key Tasks

• To help fulfil contractual engineering obligations on time and within budget.
• To liaise with Project Managers, other Engineering disciplines, Supply Chain and Projects Distribution to ensure that designed equipment is fully engineered to meet the project requirements, and then can be purchased, manufactured and delivered to site correctly.
• To review and interpret Customer specifications and drawings, assisting with detailed site-surveys where required.
• Prepare, specify and manage outsourced engineering packages as required.
• Prepare mechanical arrangement and detailed CAD drawings when required.
• Liaise with mechanical installation contractors during the site construction process if required from an engineering perspective.

Requirements

• Sound mechanical engineering design skills with the ability to generate practical and innovative designs.
• HNC/ HND Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
• Previous experience within a similar role is critical.
• High level of IT literacy particularly in CAD (AutoCAD / Autodesk Inventor).
• Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to analyse technical problems, learn and provide quick effective solutions.
