As a Lead Optimization Actuarial Analyst, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of pricing excellence and profitable development of lifestyle accounts.
Job Description
• The key determinant of profit & growth for all lifestyle accounts is pricing. The jobholder is required to deliver the pricing actions to ensure achievement of the agreed P&L budget, with particular focus on risk pricing and tactical responses to the market in respect of retail prices.
• Deliver pricing and analytical excellence within the personal lifestyle business.
• Ensure information used for pricing is fit for purpose and, in particular reconciles with core data systems. Where necessary this may require degrees of data manipulation, working with MI teams as appropriate.
• Deliver pricing actions in line with agreed plans. Deliver new approaches to ensure that our methods become and remain “best of breed”. Identify value in both our internal data sources and new or existing external datasets, incorporating new factors into rating as appropriate.
• Assess product profitability and the performance of personal lines lifestyle business, recommending and implementing improvements as necessary. Support Underwriting, Distribution and Reinsurance decision-making and identify business opportunities.
• Help to identify new pricing opportunities and tactics to improve account performance, pro-actively contribute to projects to deliver these initiatives.
• Build relationships across the business and ensure consistency of pricing.
Person Specification
You will be a nearly qualified actuary with relevant optimization experience and be highly analytical.
You will have an understanding of appropriate statistical techniques for insurance risk analysis. Ability to grasp the significance and meaning of a range of technical and complex issues relating to underwriting claims handling, pricing, reserving and financial analysis of insurance.
The ability to be innovative and devise new pricing models is key as very little of the role follows regular processes. You will be an excellent communicator capable of forging strong relationships with stakeholders across the business.
Good working knowledge of Excel, Visual Basic and SAS. Experience using Emblem and Rate Assessor would also be beneficial.
