Job Description
Reed Education is recruiting for a full-time SEN Teacher to work from an Education Unit in Gloucester for a reputable education institution. The role will commence from Mid March 2012.
The successfull teacher will be expected to provide education primarily at Key Stage 3/4, for pupils with emotional and behavioural difficulties. In liaison with colleagues take responsibility for devising and implementing educational programmes for individual pupils, support educational assessments and undertake necessary liaison with care staff and relevant outside agencies.
To teach a broad based curriculum based on the National Curriculum, with particular attention placed on the teaching of literacy and numeracy. To contribute to the teaching of pupils at KS3 and KS4 with appropriate specialist areas as part of a team approach to education. The ability to teach across a breadth of curriculum areas is essential.
To undertake liaison, in conjunction with other teaching staff, LSAs and care staff with mainstream schools/colleges where full or part-time integration is appropriate.
As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, participate in care planning and placement planning. Supervise and support Teachers, Learning Support Assistants and residential staff in the teaching environment. Attend meetings as directed by Headteacher.
Only candidates with considerable experience of teaching children with ASD and EBD will be considered.
