Our client is seeking an IT Systems Support Admin to work in their Corporate Office located in Reading. This position operates within the context of a larger, worldwide IT organisation that provides systems design, development, administration and support to a global organisation.
This position is primarily focused on operations; however, situations frequently arise whereby this position will work with colleagues located in other regions specifically Dublin Ireland. On a daily basis, this technical support position is called upon to interact with many different people in order to provide technical assistance and support. Interactions may be face-to-face, via email, telephone and teleconferencing. Interpersonal skills are a very important consideration for this role.
This position is a "hands on" support role for employees and internal systems. It requires very extensive knowledge of computer hardware/software and the ability to perform hardware repairs and or software troubleshooting and resolution. This position will lead to project related responsibilities that pertain to the ongoing maintenance and evolving requirements of laptop and desktop environment.
Responsibilities for this position include: desktop/laptop/Telephony & mobile platforms problem resolution; technology upgrades and active participation in IT initiatives and roll outs.
Additionally, this person will be expected to be proactive in identifying areas where PC changes are needed and to work with project teams to ensure system stability, reliability, security and availability.
Responsibilities
- Administration of Windows Server 2008
- Provide support to the Windows Desktop users (XP, Windows 7 and Microsoft Office apps)
- Maintain HP switches, routers, firewalls, wireless, and VPN
- Management and daily operations of all voice and data network systems
- Monitor network security systems and structures
- Troubleshoot and resolve network problems
- Develop and maintain network documentation and maintenance procedures
- Manage email (hosted Exchange) other SASS accounts (Webex).
- Maintain and support all Blackberry/Iphone users and accounts
- Maintain inventory and documentation of all hardware and software assets
- Backup network configurations and perform upgrades as required
- Ensure LAN/WAN and telephony configurations meet organizational needs, utilizing outside support resources as appropriate.
- Proactively develop and implement measures to analyze work load and capacity utilization of network components and telephony servers.
- Assist with changes to network design, work methods and procedures to make them more effective and/or to strengthen security measures.
