Betfred is the world’s biggest owner-operator bookmaker with a retail estate of over 1350 shops. Betfred also run the highly successful Racecourse Pool betting operation across UK racecourses and work in partnership with a number of international pool betting operators around the world. 

As a Systems Specialist you will manage, support (3rd Line) and maintain BetFred’s financial systems, both 3rd party and proprietary, and their related databases and the interfaces to and from them.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as Technical resource within identified business projects, providing technical documentation to support the project.
  • Installing 3rd party releases of software to both client and server environments.
  • Managing the performance, integrity and security of the company’s financial systems, as well as writing and coding individual programmes from specific requirements.
  • Liaising with Group Financial Controller regarding the current performance and future requirements for the company’s financial systems.
  • Creating and maintain technical documentation using defined technical documentation templates.
  • Adhering to BetFred Project Management, Incident Management and Change Management methodologies.
  • Adhering to all UK legislation regarding the protection of personal data.

To succeed in this role you will:

  • Be educated to degree level, or equivalent work experience.
  • Have previous experience in Microsoft SQL Server 2000, 2005 & 2008, Visual Studio 6, 2003, 2005 & 2010, IBM Cognos Business Intelligence.
  • Have strong knowledge of T-SQL, DTS, SSIS, SSRS, C#, C++, Visual Basic, VBA,  ASP, .NET, Java skills.
  • Have good Knowledge of database architecture and design along with knowledge of the Kimball approach to creating a data warehouse.
  • Have strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on projects.
  • Have excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical employees.
