Job Description
This is an opportunity for an experienced Microsoft Systems Engineer, with a minimum of 5 years experience of Microsoft Server Products and Platforms, to join an established, innovative Microsoft Gold Partner in the Manchester area. As a successful candidate, you will work on new solutions for high profile, luxury retail brands and with internal infrastructure and development teams, using some of the latest technologies.
Our Systems Engineers are versatile individuals that work on both customer projects and support the internal teams, systems and infrastructure. As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, installing, migrating and configuring server infrastructures, planning and implementing enterprise and high availability infrastructures and designing and implementing network topologies and security. Alongside these primary responsibilities, there are some general tasks to support the company’s internal development teams and office environment. Excellent communication skills are essential as is a passion for technology and a drive to excel.
Out of hours support, including cover for weekends and holidays will be required on occasion.
Some travel to customer sites may be involved.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
A minimum of 5 years solid commercial experience of Microsoft Server Products and Platforms
Knowledge of Network Protocols / services and Network infrastructures
Knowledge of security technologies and services
Windows Server 2003 + (IIS, MSMQ, Active Directory, DFS, COM+, etc.) and Client operating systems
Virtualisation (Hyper-V, VMWare, VirtualBox)
SQL Server 2005 + (security, maintenance planning, installation, mirroring, performance tuning, replication, SSAS, SSRS etc.)
Exchange 2003 + (OWA, Active Sync, etc)
SharePoint 2007+ (Intranets, extranets, Security, Workflow, etc)
Team Foundation Server
Excellent communication skills
Desirable
Enterprise level firewall and VPN configuration
Knowledge of other Non-Microsoft platforms (Unix, Linux, Macintosh etc)
Cloud deployments (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, etc)
Microsoft Lync / VoIP
Software development skills (Visual Studio, C#, Powershell)
Microsoft Certification
