Our client is a leading provider of high-quality computer IT support services. Accredited as Microsoft Certified Partners and Microsoft Small Business Specialists, they specialise in providing a technical lifeline and business continuity for small and medium-sized companies. An opportunity has now arisen for an IT Support Technician to join their team on a temp-to-perm basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a support or customer service professional with experience of troubleshooting PC hardware, and MS operating and networking systems to join an innovative and growing company.

As an IT Support Technician, you will be tasked with providing an excellent and personable IT service to SMEs in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. You will support the broad customer base via the phone, email and using online remote support as well as on-site.

Taking a proactive approach, you will respond to alerts from the remote monitoring and management tools for servers and workstations. You will take ownership of client issues ensuring they are followed through to a satisfactory conclusion and a good on-going rapport is maintained.

In addition to providing a fast, efficient and comprehensive service, resolving hardware and software problems, your other duties will include:

- Visiting clients to help build relationships
- Liaising with other IT support members to resolve complex issues, seeking third party advice where necessary
- Scheduling maintenance work on client IT systems

To be considered for this role, you must have experience in a telephone-based support or customer service role.

You must also have experience of troubleshooting and installing the following:

- MS operating systems, including XP, Vista, Windows Server, SBS 2003 or 2008 and/or Exchange 2003, 2007 or 2010
- MS Office 2003, 2007 or 2010
- Networking systems (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS), routers and firewalls
- PC hardware (including upgrading, diagnosing and repairing)

As an IT Support Technician, you must have superb problem-solving and communication skills. A willingness to learn, a confident and reassuring telephone manner and the ability to work well in a team environment are key, as is a driving licence and access to your own transport.

Whilst not essential, a degree would be beneficial to your application. Experience of using helpdesk ticketing software and remote monitoring and management tools would also be an advantage, as would Microsoft qualifications, such as an MCP, MCITP, MCSA and/or MCSE.
