The Organisation:
Our client offers business & technical support, together with networking and specialist advice, with grant funding to assist in delivering increased profits and jobs to participating companies. They also work closely with Universities across the region, helping to transfer their knowledge and expertise into private sector, businesses and vice versa.
Job Role:
As Innovation Advisors you will assist East Midlands based SME companies to commercialise their diverse, leading edge ideas within the sustainable construction arena.
You will work independently in a field role that guarantees exposure to a wide variety of different businesses and new ideas. A technical aptitude is helpful but not essential.
Duties:
• To promote innovation in the construction industry (and associated segments: mining & quarrying, surveying, architects, built environment etc) with particular reference to low-carbon, water and waste reduction developments within the sector;
• To visit companies, identify and/or validate their innovation needs and the means to achieve them;
• To assess qualifying sme’s to apply for grant-funding, to assist their application in the role of Devils’ Advocate to ensure quality and clarity, and ensure that applications submitted are fully compliant;
• To monitor progress of projects, ensuring that they are on time and to budget;
• To gather monitoring data on businesses that have been assisted;
• To provide Information, Diagnostic and Brokerage support to businesses and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with businesses, partners and stakeholders;
• To build relationships with other organisations which provide financial or research and development support or otherwise have influence in the industry;
• To be a general ambassador for the brand, to attend events and networking meetings, presenting on behalf of the organisation where required and to facilitate expansion and awareness.
Skills/Qualifications required:
• Degree level educated with 5 years + business experience in the construction and/or energy/waste sectors.
• Possess good interpersonal, organisational and relationship building skills that enable you to open doors.
• Have confident presentational skills.
Benefits:
• Full time 37 hours per week
• Salary: £35,000 per annum
• Work Base: Daventry
• Eligible to join the Local Government Pension – final salary scheme
• 24 days holiday per annum plus 5 days after 5 years continuous service plus Bank Holidays and Closed days.
