Infrastructure Designer - Central Scotland - VMware, Linux, Unix, Veritas
Fantastic opportunity to join Infrastructure Design team at one of Scotland's largest and fastest moving technology companies. You will be Technical Specialist on Linux / Solaris and Virtualisation projects and will help develop, design and innovate infrastructure technologies in this large, complex enterprise IT environment.
This will include;
Authoring and implementing detailed technical engineering / architectural designs
Taking and influencing technical decisions in a fast moving commercial environment
Providing authority and guidance on design implications for business infrastructure projects
Being major contributor to the VMware design and standards
Driving the operational excellence of the implementation process through automation
Supporting and Influencing enterprise strategy and planning activities
Developing and guiding relationships with strategic suppliers, influencing product design to accommodate current and future requirements
Collaborating and engaging with Delivery and Support areas within technology to support and implement Infrastructure Innovation solutions
Development of hardware and software standards
The ideal candidate would have relevant experience performing similar duties in an Enterprise environment. Bachelors degree and several years proven industry experience. Vendor technical certifications are desirable. Good written and oral communication skills and the ability to interface with various levels of customers and internal personnel are essential.
You will also require technical knowledge of;
Linux (Red Hat)
Solaris
VMware vSphere
Veritas Cluster Server
Veritas Storage Foundation
Proven Scripting experience in at least one of these; Shell Scripting, .Net, Perl
Solid understanding of Incident, Change, and Problem Management.
Role based in Central Scotland and commutable from such places as Edinburgh, Glasgow, Falkirk, Stirling Perth and Fife.
