Import Customs Entry Operator - Felixstowe

We are a successful logistics company looking for an experienced Import Customs Entry Operator based in Felixstowe.

Many of our customs clearances originate from our own inbound services. There is enormous potential to increase current volumes by top class customer service.

Job Details

By providing excellent customer service to new as well as existing customs clearance customers we are securing further new business. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing customs clearances for those customers. In order to be effective and to contribute to the development of the department the ideal candidate should: 

• Have previous import customs entry experience working in a general forwarding role for a Forwarder, using CHIEF, Destin8, etc
• Be proficient at processing entries accurately with practical experience dealing with HM Customs for import deep-sea procedures.
• Have knowledge and practical experience classifying goods using the Customs Tariff Code.
• Be co-coordinating transport arrangements, efficiently organizing daily workload and competent with computerised software including MS office.
• Be a good communicator in order to provide excellent customer service and capitalise on customer contact.
• Have the ability to service general import forwarding requirements of our customers, be shrewd enough to optimise the profitability of work whilst still adding value for the client.

Self-motivated person with capacity to achieve goals and who is looking for an opportunity to demonstrate their true potential in a commercial environment where it will be recognised and appreciated. For candidates of the right calibre with minor knowledge gaps but a committed attitude, some structured training can be available to help efficiently bring them up to speed, assist with familiarisation of systems, current procedures and cover specific knowledge gaps to improve productivity.

Hours and Conditions

The position is based in Felixstowe and the normal working hours are Mon- Fri 8.30am to 5.30pm. A competitive salary will be paid according to ability, qualifications and experience.
