Purpose and Scope

The Integrated Business Reporting (IBR) project brings together data from a number of corporate systems to enable additional reports required by the business to be developed and then accessed via an "IBR site". The current site is still under development as are the reports required. This post will provide additional professional support in report writing as well as assisting IS with the development of the intranet reporting site.

Responsibilities/tasks

1. To follow the principles of the Business Information Managers Networks Terms of

Reference

2. Write reports using SQL2008 based on specifications provided by the business.

3. Assist with the development of the Corporate Database (CDB) IBR site as follows:

  • Restructure the site to a "by process" rather than "by DSG site" structure.
  • Restructure the site for other weaknesses/requirements.
  • Review existing reports for need and format.
  • Assess existing reports as required.
  • Develop best practice structure of CDB
  • Improved data transfers from off site service provider
  • Develop "drill down" reporting

4. Work with the other members of the IBR workstream team and with the businesses as required.

5. Impart advanced skills to other members of the IBR workstream.

6. Based at Andover Hampshire with a requirement to travel to other DSG sites within the UK

as needs arise.

Authorities/Delegations Required

1. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders in providing required outputs.

Organisational relationships

This role will report to the Management Accountant who has the responsibility for leading theIBR Development workstream.

Education and Training Requirements

Advanced user in a range of MS Office applications.

Knowledge and use of Baan ERP would be advantageous.

Functional Requirements (e.g. Technical, Managerial, Commercial)

SQL2008 report writing at expert level including visual outputs (dashboard, drilldown etc) Knowledge of SQL Database Design and Administration
