My client is a specialist Mining Engineering company in South Yorkshire, Currently looking for an experienced Health & Safety/Continuous Improvement Officer to cover the 2 facilities in the region, ensure their operations in full compliance with all statutory health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Provide leadership, coaching and guidance to drive safe working behaviour in the operations.
• Responsible for the facilitation and over-sight of continuous improvement activities in order to increase capacity, reduce lead time, improve delivery, improve quality and reduce cost.
• Acts as a champion for health, safety and environmental related matters and coordinates all safety related activities on site, acting as the primary contact for all agency requests for information, inspections and audits.
• Ensures compliance with all statutory health, safety and environmental regulations, including conducting all the required safety, occupational hygiene and noise monitoring inspections/tests.
• Manages all the safety and environmental inspections and other pertinent issues as needed; such as workplace transport assessments, and crane, forklift, lock-out/tag-out inspections.
• Responds appropriately to non-compliance situations and issues, and anticipate problems before they occur, wherever possible.
• Analyses incidents and patterns using root cause analysis and initiates the appropriate corrective action to make continual improvements to the safety performance of the site.
• Monitors and evaluates new regulatory developments as they pertain to the operations in Rotherham and Doncaster.
• Identifies opportunities for improvement and strives to reduce accident rates, incidents and employee compensation costs.
• Provides technical and regulatory support to the Management Team through the administration, maintenance and effective implementation of all associated health, safety and environment programmes, systems and policies.
• Participates in developing, reviewing and implementing key safety systems which incorporate corporate policies, strategies and goals.
• Conducts environmental, safety and occupational hygiene training of Company employees; including general health, safety and environmental awareness, hazard identification and risk assessment (HIRA).
• Participates in assessing work place hazards and ensuring risk assessments and safe working practices are developed and/or reviewed accordingly in order to manage workplace risks and hazards.
• Facilitates 6S activities across the site, by leading, training and coaching Company employees in using the principle to reduce workplace hazards and to improve housekeeping standards, such as through the use of shadow-boards.
• Facilitates training and development to all employees in lean techniques.
• Ensures documenta
