Head of Research for a leading educational establishment in London.£42,000-£48,000+benefits.
The overall aim of this role is to manage the strategic and administrative research activities in order to deliver the research strategy, manage the PhD support delivery and play an advisory role for all grant income . You must have had exposure to RAE and REF preparations. A key part of the role will require experience in managing budgets , developing research grant applications, including costing and have experience of managing staff within a complex structure.
You will manage the Organisations submission in conjunction with the Associate Dean for Research and Enterprise
o Oversee the administration of submissions;
o Coordinate the School's decision making processes
o Advise on Panel Guidelines and rules;
o Collate and provide all statistical data;
We are seeking applications with:
Qualifications
* Minimum of Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
* An understanding of the nature of research as well as academic institutions and processes
* Working knowledge of research council and charity funding procedures and schemes
* Knowledge of current national research policy and its implications for research in the School
* Knowledge of contract law, IPR and patents
* Knowledge of research in the Health related areas within the School
Skills
* Ability to communicate effectively
* Excellent negotiation and leadership skills
* Excellent oral, written communication skills and interpersonal skills
* Ability to act as main figurehead for key activities
* Ability to think and act strategically and lead projects from conception to completion
* Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and manage multiple activities at the same time
