Qatar based design consultancy working on several large build projects in Qatar.
Job Description
To head the QS department for both pre and post-contract for different QS & cost projection and liaising work with internal and external parties throughout design and construction phrase. Managing and controlling the quantity surveyors.
Key Accountabilitys / Responsibilities
• Prepares various Quantity Surveying documents including budgetary estimates at different design stages, Bill of Quantities for all disciplines and Costs Estimates.
• Liaises with Project Directors and manages tender procedures and prepare Tender Reports.
• Prepares award of contracts, checks contract documents as well as makes recommendations of contractor’s evaluations.
• Provides assistance to Project Managers on contractual issues.
• Evaluates variations & Claims and handles contractual correspondences.
• Attends progress meetings and provides updates Client with projection of costs as required.
• Prepares evaluations/ cost projections / advise for projects under construction in coordination with the supervision department to meet requirements of works in progress
• Liaises with contractors to advise on requirements of contract
• Inspects site for collation of information for monthly statement which includes but not limited to recommendation on interim payments, statement of claims from contractors, anticipated claims from contractors and assessment of costs of works and expected final cost.
• Communicates with the supervision team to obtain/ record information related to claims/variations.
• Performs cost analysis and draw up reports on changes to works and contractor’s claims.
• Assists the Project Manager to prepare and approve contractor’s final accounts.
• Finalizes the Final Account of projects.
• Takes on primarily post-contract quantity surveying duties.
• Mentors and leads the team of quantity surveyors, and give the proper technical guidance to them. Controlling their attendance and signing the time sheets Responsible for following up day to day business activities and assigning the work to the individuals, monitoring their production.
• Controlling the quality of the department services and working on enhancing and continuously developing the individuals and department capabilities.
• Adopting new software and methodologies to enhance the production of the department, and in coordination with the other design software used in the office like CAD and REVIT.
• Assists in any contracts administration duties related to QS.
• Liaises with contractors and Clients to get the most accurate costs and requirements.
Person Specification
Experience / Qualification
• Must have a Degree of Bsc in Quantity Surveying, as a minimum
• Must be MRICS
• At least minimum 15 years in similar capacity
MUST BE EXPERIENCED IN MANAGING A TEAM OF QS'S AND CURRENTLY BE IN THE UAE OR QATAR.
