Financial Planning is a key and high profile area of this £ 4-5bn turnover Financial Services Company. The Head of Planning is responsible for co-ordinating and delivering the financial plans and forecasts, supported by a focused, high calibre team. . Providing the Financial Plan, covering the next 3 years in conjunction with the strategy, based on supporting performance driver, strategic principle and action based plans.
The scope includes responsibility for all planning and forecasting for the P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, capital, together with statutory and economic solvency measures of a large, multi product, multi distribution insurance business. The Plan process involves regular presentations to the Executive Board, with engagement across the organisation to construct the overall Plan for the company.
The Head of Planning needs to bring to the Executive Board the draft plans for the company, presenting the plans to ensure they are understood and to make recommendations for greater commercial value and where further action is required.
The role is required to perform regular forecasts of the current year and next year, present these to the Executive Board and the CEO in order to convey the latest financial outlook, risks, opportunities, decisions required, obtain approval and present the key issues to Directors at Group.
The role also identifies and sets out the key performance measures for the organisation that will be the fundamental basis of financial performance measurement in the future.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate the essential knowledge and skills for the position including
- Fully qualified accountant
- Substantial experience at Director / Partner level.
- Credible and experienced in working with Executive Level Directors
- Able to think laterally, identifying broader implications of issues, often at short notice during Executive meetings.
- Strong commercial and strategic insight, able to identify value opportunities and drive performance
- Strong track record in influencing and communicating at senior levels
- Able to communicate complex issues in an easily understood manner
