Our client based in Swindon is actively looking to recruit a hands on Technical Consultant / Systems Engineer on a permanent basis.

Role:                Hands on Technical Consultant / Systems Engineer

Salary:            up to £30,000pa + company car

Location:         Swindon

They require a Technical Consultant to deliver on site technical consultancy and who can become the IT Manager for a number of there clients. You must be a self motivated individual with superb communication skills and be very well presented as you will be an ambassador for our client.

This exciting opportunity offers you the chance to develop and increase not only your IT skills but your consultancy and IT management skills with an exciting, expanding and rewarding company.   The ability to understand business IT needs and give advice and guidance on implementing IT change and best practice to assist our clients to gain the maximum business benefit from their investment in IT is essential.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience of implementing and configuring Microsoft server products (Windows 2003/2008 Server, Exchange 2003/ 2007/2010 and Terminal Services 2003/2008)
  • Windows Small Business Server 2003/ 2008/ 2011
  • Extremely good knowledge of TCP/IP, Wide Area Networking and Local Area Network setup (including firewalls, routers, switches and VLAN’s)
  • Highly beneficial: An up to date MCSE/MCITP qualification (demonstrable proof)

Desirable Skills:

  • VMware & Hyper V installation & configuration
  • Sophos Anti-Virus, Enterprise Manager + SAV Admin + Remote Update
  • Webroot
  • Symantec Backup Exec for Windows version 10 onwards
  • Microsoft Terminal Services design and implementation in WAN
  • Cisco, Sonicwall and WatchGuard Firewall implementation and configuration
  • Web filtering technologies
  • Citrix technologies

Duties and Responsibilities Summary

  • Working in a team reporting to the General Manager you will be the IT Manager for a number of client businesses.
  • Your main responsibility will be to visit our client sites on a regular basis, recommend and assist in implementing technical solutions, trouble shooting network and connectivity issues and making recommendations to clients on how to implement a better IT infrastructure to ensure their businesses gain the maximum benefit from their investment in IT. 
  • In order to deliver our customer promise, we need individuals who can demonstrate a little more than the ordinary IT Manager:

Þ   You need to be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and influencing skills both with the clients and internally. 

Þ   You need to have outstanding analytical skills and the ability to prepare a clear and concise route forward for our clients. 

Þ   You must have commercial awareness that allows IT solutions to be placed in a context of business performance and results.

Your must have the self belief and passion necessary to operate and succeed in the clients business environment.
