A partner Secondary School in Milton Keynes is looking to appoint an innovative and creative Instructor of Hairdressing on either a full time or part time basis beginning in September 2013. The school is looking to make this appointment after receiving record levels of applications for its Level 2 BTEC Hairdressing Services course. The course begins in year 9 and progresses through years 10 and 11. Hairdressing Services is now a well-established course within the school and a very popular choice for students at Key Stage 4. Hairdressing is part of the school?s outstanding Creative Technologies Faculty and therefore is encouraged to be delivered in a technical and creative way. The school is also very keen to develop the beauty side of the course and would welcome the right candidate to be a part of this exciting venture.
The Creative Technologies Faculty works together well and support each other in all aspects of school life and work. The expectation of every member of the faculty is valued and excellent provision is made to help each person to develop professionally throughout their career.
The successful Hairdressing Instructor will have prior experience mentoring students. A previous position in a trainee hair/hair & beauty salon would be an ideal fit for this role as well as a real passion to work in a secondary school with young aspiring hairdressers at the beginning of their career. The Requirements:
- Have the ability and experience of teaching and/or training between the 14-16 age group.
- Be able to deal with challenging behaviour and a patient/creative approach is necessary.
- Have a passion for teaching Hairdressing in education.
- Be able to use your own initiative and work as part of a team.
