A fantastic opportunity for a Graduate or an Accounts Assistant studying ACCA or CIMA. This role in Colchester, working for an exciting business offers fantastic career progression longer term.
The role:
Maintenance and operation of the Group’s finance systems
Tasks include maintaining the Chart of Accounts and code structures, supporting budget load exercises, reconciling balances, processing interface files, administering user access and maintaining workflow authorisation systems.
Carries out daily system maintenance work including checking the system is functioning correctly
Assists in designing and maintaining reporting systems
Provides system support to divisions in their delivery of the month end reporting exercise.
Provision of support and training to staff in the use of the finance systems including training to individuals and delivering training to groups in a classroom environment.
Produce quality written procedures and user manuals to support the operation and maintenance of the finance systems
Works with finance system suppliers including working with consultants and liaising with the system supplier’s customers support service.
Testing finance systems and processes as part of upgrading and developing new applications, including maintenance of an issue log, liaison with finance and IT staff on testing activities and problems, testing and reconciling interfaces between systems
Assists in the transfer and reconciliation of data from existing systems to the new systems.
This includes extracting data from legacy systems and converting the data to be loaded into the existing finance system.
Comply with the Company Appraisal system and attend an appraisal every year and at least quarterly updates.
Skills & Experience
Accounting and reporting in a large complex environment
Understanding of the key principles of financial controls, budgeting and reporting
Experience of producing financial reports and monitoring budgets
Experience of using financial management systems and good general knowledge of computer systems
Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Analytical and problem solving skills
Evidence of continuing professional development
Understanding of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Purchasing and Stock processes
Qualifications
AAT fully qualified
Ideally educated to degree level.
