KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that regular formal reviews are held with all maintenance providers and that contracts are in place to provide the appropriate level of service to meet statutory requirements.
- To work closely with the National Fleet Engineer to ensure that all vehicles are fit for purpose and redesign as necessary.
- To provide guidance on improving the current depot performance in managing the fleet servicing, maintenance and accident damage to ensure fleet utilisation is above 90%.
- To have regular reviews with CUK vehicle and MHE suppliers and follow-up on all operational issues including writing technical reports with recommended actions that have been fully costed.
- To manage the commercial vehicle risks associated with the fleet and accident damage and ensure Accident Management company are adhering to the SLA and all Depots issues are actioned in a timely manner.
- To produce a suite of reports that enable more visibility of actual costs associated with the national fleet.
- To ensure that the agreed statistics are produced on a period basis to support the period stats packs.
- To carry out technical investigations into any major incident and prepare a report for National fleet Engineer
- To produce a suite of reports that enable more visibility of actual costs associated with all warehouse MHE.
- To formalise maintenance reviews with all MHE service providers.
- To compile an annual fleet plan that is aligned to the overall Logistics strategy, clearly identifying goals and measures of success for the CUK fleet. To provide period updates to National Fleet Engineer via a management report on progress to plan.
- To motivate, develop, coach and inspire the CUK transport and warehouse teams in order to promote a culture of continuous improvement for vehicle and warehouse equipment operation.
- Develop a behavioural safety culture by ensuing full compliance with all H&S policy and process ensuring all legislative requirements are met.
- To prepare and manage and deliver cost budgets. Identify and implement opportunities to reduce the Logistics cost base.
- Effectively monitor, measure and drive improvement performance against Logistic KPI's.
- To develop a truly engaged with Depot teams, by creating a culture of two-way communication and feedback, utilising results from C15 and EAS (Engagement Surveys) and holding regular forums with CUK Depot fleet teams.

- Trainers and Depot operational teams.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / WORK EXPERIENCE
Knowledge & Experience
- HND or equivalent in Automotive Engineering
- Minimum of Incorporated Engineer status or Chartered Engineer
- Full member of SOE / IRTE
- Automotive engineering apprenticeship
- Certificate of Professional Competence for National Operators Licence
- HGV class C+E Licence
- Previous senior fleet experience in large Logistics companies of over 300 large vehicles
- Previous experience of leading teams
- Previous experience working in a Unionised environment
- Track record of delivering results individually and through others
- Track record of successful cost & budget management
- Understanding of Lean or other Continuous Improvement Principles (desirable)
- Track record of effectively dealing with underperformance
- Ability to proactively deliver operational projects to dedicated timescales
- To ensure that the national retail fleet complies with all legal requirements and that the Operators Licence is in no way jeopardised. All maintenance providers to be closely managed to ensure the most cost effective method of operation.
