Organisation Description

My client are a US owned international business with a turnover of around $5bn.
They are now seeking to recruit a permanent financial analyst to join the commercial finance team. You will have responsibility for the category P&L worth $200m.

This incorporates all aspects of regular reporting, ad-hoc financial analysis and evaluation, budgeting, quarterly forecasting and strategic planning.

The job holder will be responsible for financial control of the full Profit and Loss account, with a particular emphasis on sales and expenses, and especially working with the commercial teams to ensure that Quarterly financial targets are met.

Acting as a true business partner to the commercial teams, the job holder will need to demonstrate a commercial mindset able to challenge and make a real and positive contribution to the business operations of the division

Job Description

Overall responsibility for the co-ordination and production of budget, forecasts and strategic plans for the Country divisions:
a) Production of entire P&L including:
i) Detailed generation of sales & cost of sales in conjunction with the relevant product marketing managers;
ii) Build up of operating expenses relevant to each operating department in conjunction with the relevant managers of those departments;
b) Variance analysis vs prior years and forecasts for key P&L lines, and additionally market growth and share;
c) Creation of presentation packs to highlight key areas of plans, and presentation of those plans to Senior Management. 

Work closely with all members of the Sales & Marketing teams, with a brief to provide sound financial and commercial support for all relevant business decisions made by the group including:
a) Financial evaluations of proposals relating to both new products and line extensions of existing products;
b) Comparison of country performances – including expenses per head, Average Selling Prices, margins achieved;
c) Post activity analysis and evaluation;
d) Recommend and implement control process improvements; 

Financial reporting & control:
a) Timely production of weekly/monthly reports covering all aspects of the Profit and Loss account;
b) In conjunction with central accounting ensure an accurate and effective financial close is achieved on a monthly basis:
• Production of sales and operating commentaries;
• Investigation of variances;
• Production of accruals for country;
c) Regularly monitor and communicate performance vs latest quarter targets.

Person Specification

To be considered for this role you will be a qualified accountant. Applicants making a first move from practice will also be considered.

Critical to the success of the role will be the job holder’s ability to build positive working relationships where they can challenge and contribute as a “business person” as well as a Finance practitioner.

Salary on offer around £45k plus a £6k car allowance and bonus potential at 10%.
