Financial Accountant

Sportsdirect has a number of vacancies within the Finance and Operational functions as a result of growth and re-organisation.  The roles will provide support for the continued growth of the business, providing an un-paralleled career opportunity to gain experience in Financial and Management reporting within a £1.5b turnover plc. The roles would suit ambitious career-minded Accountancy graduates or part-qualified accountants. 

Due to the flexible nature of the roles the candidates will need to be quick learners to take full advantage of the development potential.

Key Duties

Working within a team in all areas of the finance function and includes the following:

Preparation of trial balances for statutory financial reporting for a number of companies,

Calculation of accruals, preparation and posting of journals, allocating costs to stores and reconciling balance sheet accounts

Preparation and distribution of management reports showing variance against targets and budgets.

Preparation of budgets and forecasts

Providing explanations of movements against budget and prior year

Preparing analytical reports using Excel at an advanced level.

Key Skills

Highly adaptable with good interpersonal skills

Ability to work well under pressure

An eye for detail and an enthusiastic approach to problem solving

Strong PC and advanced Excel Skills

Database skills would be an advantage (Access, SQL)
