Financial Accountant

My client, a leading consumer company inBerkshire, requires a strong financial accountant for a 6 month contract.

Reporting directly to the UK Accountant, you will be responsible for the control and development of internal processes and computer systems to support the European Fulfilment Centre.

This role will ensure the company is fully compliant in all areas including VAT and Intrastat reporting. You will also be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the P&L and balance sheet and management reporting including providing support for forecasts and operating plans.

The ideal candidate must have solid accounting skills with some European experience and Supply Chain.

Key Accountabilities:

• Responsible for the preparation of the VAT and Intrastat returns (ensuring returns are filed on time and without errors).
• Setting up/approval of product to ensure the correct VAT and accounting treatment
• Responsible for the preparation of the monthly accounts for the EFC including prepayments/accruals, fixed assets, intercompany
• Production of monthly management accounts and providing financial information/metrics and commentary on performance to other European Markets
• Ensuring that the systems of internal controls are effective and monitored including compliance with Sarbanes Oxley and other European Accounting Standards
• Filings for government i.e. National Statistics reporting, VAT and Intrastat reporting

Qualifications:

• Qualified ACCA/CIMA or 10 years QBE
• Minimum 5 years management experience
• Experience in high volume, cash based environment
• Proven track record of project and change management
• Supply Chain & Cross boarder trading
• Expertise in VAT, Intrastat reporting and triangulation
