Our client, an International Charity, are seeking a Finance Manager for a 1 year Fixed term contract, commencing in April 2012.
Overall purpose of the Job
To be responsible for the accounting system and for the input into their international financial management systems, ensuring that financial results and reports are available in an accurate and timely manner.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
Overall:
• Assisting the Director of Finance in ensuring that they are compliant with all statutory requirements relating to financial control, financial management and accounting.
• Supervision and development of the Finance Officer.
Financial Accounting:
• Preparation of supporting schedules for the statutory audit in line with SORP requirements, liaising and working with the Auditors during the course of the audit.
• Ensuring that the Finance Officer’s role is performed effectively.
• Checking and signing off control account reconciliations performed by Finance Officer
• Reconciling the remaining control accounts – main bank account, payroll, PAYE, pension, fixed assets, debtors, other creditors, advances.
• Reconciliation of bank accounts and monitoring balances, ensuring that cash flow is controlled, making transfers to deposit accounts so that investment income is maximised.
• Ensuring banking systems used are as efficient as possible, where necessary propose amendments and update systems.
• Making sure that payments are made on a timely basis, to include HMRC, salaries, pension provider, suppliers
• Ensuring financial procedures and policies are followed and training staff where necessary.
• Ensuring staff have correct and adequate currency for foreign trips, working with staff and reconciling advances
• Controlling interbilling, liaising with colleagues in Hub offices and other offices on intercompany invoices and ensure that correct exchange rates are maintained
• Working with the fundraising team to ensure accurate systems are in place for the effective collection of income such as direct debits, gift aid, online payments etc
• Providing cover for Finance Director for payroll and pension input.
Management Accounting:
• Preparing monthly management accounts, discussing variances against budget with budget holders
• Working on quarterly forecasts with the Finance Director and line managers
• Working on budget preparation with the Finance Director and line managers, for approval by the Board
Person Specification
• Qualified accountant.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in a supervisory position.
• Internationalcharity experience
• Knowledge of Charity Accounts and SORP Reporting
• Effective interpersonal skills with excellent written and oral communication skills
• Specific experience in managing resources, innovative and able to motivate team members and ability to work to deadlines
• Computer and Management System skills including, Window based Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Databases, accounting soft-ware and the Internet
