Part-Time Finance & Commercial Manager

Interim cover for Maternity Leave

Commencing May 2012

About the Finance & Commercial Manager role:
Due to the need to cover a (TBA) month maternity absence the hospital needs to recruit an experienced and high-calibre Finance and Commercial Manager to support the Hospital Director and Senior Management Team. The role is currently covered on a flexible 22.5 hours a week basis but exceptional candidates looking for 30 hours would also be considered. Working hours must be flexible, particularly to cover the month-end period to finalise the hospital's management accounts.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide clear financial leadership and commercial support including month-end management accounts, developing the 2013 Budget, preparing the financials for the 2013-2015 Hospital Three-Year plan, monthly forecasting, management of the capital budget and transactional services.
  • Join the Senior Management team, working closely with the Hospital Director, Matron and Business Development Manager to play a critical role in shaping short and long term business achievement .
  • Ensure customer processes are effective, efficient, profit and cash flow centred.
  • Develop the hospital's finance function sharing best practice with colleagues within our network of hospitals.
  • To directly manage the Hospital Business Office (2.5 FTE) which has responsibility for the hospital's charging and finance processes and to directly manage the hospital's Stores Function (1 FTE) which has responsibility for ordering and receiving in the hospital's consumables.

About you, our ideal candidate

  • Commercially astute qualified accountant.
  • Healthcare sector knowledge would be good but is not essential.
  • You'll need to be PC literate and fully conversant with Hyperion and Microsoft office.
  • Ability to interpret financial and operating data identifying drivers to profit and drive change through P&L discussions with each Head of Department.
