Family Carers is an established community services organisation. We provide Domiciliary Care, Supported Living services, Outreach, Family Assessment and Family Contact

Our client groups are:

•             Individuals with mental health difficulties

•             Individuals with learning disabilities

•             Individuals with dementia

•             Families in need of support

Family Carers is seeking to appoint staff to act as Family Contact Supervisors and Escorts for various ad hoc shifts in and around the London area. Access to a vehicle is essential due to locations. Duties include supervising family contact. A current CRB check would be advantageous, however you will be required to undertake a fresh application for an enhanced disclosure. Disclosure expense will be met by applicant.

Escorting of children will involve the transport of vulnerable children to and from contacts.

Contact Supervisors will be required to attend contacts where children are placed under interim care orders, and report observations between child and parent. This may take place in the community, in the home, foster home or at a secure contact centre.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • To act as a contact supervisor in support of family contact in a safe welcoming and child friendly way.
  • To accurately record contact sessions
  • To be prepared to challenge inappropriate behaviours
  • If necessary, give evidence in Family Courts
  • To carry out supervision of family contacts on a sessional basis in line within guidelines and training.
  • To support and facilitate a positive family contact.
  • To ensure that the safety of the child is maintained at all times
  • To actively ensure the Safeguarding and promote the welfare of the child whilst undertaking their duties
  • To have knowledge of the Children Act and current legislation pertaining to the role
  • At least 2 years paid experience working with vulnerable children and young people.
  • Experience of objective report writing
  • Knowledge of child protection legislation

Key Duties Essential Requirements Desirable

Previous experience of escorting and contact supervision

Experience of working with children and or adults with learning disabilities
