My client has an exciting vacancy available in their fast growing well established gas detection company. The role, Electronics Technician will involve supporting, building circuits and test equipment for both Production and Development teams.

The Role:

The Role will report to the Development manager and will involve the following:-

  • To provide day to day technical support for production. (Product Specific training will be given)
  • Maintain production build and test equipment.
  • Build circuits and test equipment for production and development.
  • Support the purchasing function with respect to the supply of new / obsolete parts
  • To provide a production input for new developments within the company.
  • Gather and maintain a list of the production support work required.
  • Work in an ISO9001 environment.

The Person

This is a hands-on role and the person appointed will:-

  • Be a team player
  • Able to work on own initiative
  • Be flexible
  • Have good attention to detail
  • Be capable and comfortable in communicating and working with a multifunctional team.
  • Be organised.
  • Be approachable.

Technical qualities:-

  • Fault finding of circuit boards to component level.
  • Soldering Skills to 0603 level components.
  • Able to read an engineering drawing.
  • Capable of using basic mechanical tools (Pillar drills, lathes, Handtools etc)
  • Generate test and build procedures.

Technical qualifications:-

  • Electronic Engineering HNC or HND or NVQ level 4 or equivalent experience.
  • Competent with MS Word and Excel.

Preferably the individual will also have the following qualities but these are not essential:-

  • Experience with schematic capture tools
  • Experience with CAD based design tools.
  • Have worked in a batch production environment
  • Able to prioritise work.
  • Have an appreciation of the economics of production.
  • Capable of programming in a high level programming language
