My client has an exciting position available in their fast growing well established gas detection company. The role, Electronics Design Engineer, will be a key part of a team which is heavily involved in contributing to the companies continued growth. The role will involve Designing electronic circuits for new and existing products as well as supporting all of the department’s customers.

The Role will report to the Development Manager and will involve the following:-

  • Hardware design of linear and digital electronic circuits for the whole product life cycle for both new and existing products.
  • Supporting the purchasing function with respect to the supply of new / obsolete parts.
  • Being willing and able to tackle problems which are outside the designated brief i.e. work on mechanical / production issues.
  • Being capable of assimilating a number of different tasks prioritising them and executing them in order.
  • Capable of assembling/working on prototype circuits using 0402 sized components and DFN type packages.
  • Working in an ISO9001 environment.

This is a hands-on role and the person appointed will:-

Technical qualities:-

  • Low noise Analogue.
  • Experience of designing for handheld applications / low power / Battery supported circuits.
  • Competent with schematic capture tools both Circuit design and PCB layout
  • Microcontroller based digital design.
  • Power circuits
  • Knowledge of EMC testing.
  • Generate documentation to follow ISO9000 quality systems.
  • Soldering Skills to 0402 level components.
  • Able to read an engineering drawing.
  • Faultfinding down to component level.
  • Capable of using basic mechanical tools (Pillar drills, lathes, Handtools etc)
  • Generate production build, test procedures.
  • Some high level Programming skills.

Technical qualifications:-

  • Electronic Engineering degree or equivalent (from a recognised course).
  • Competent with MS office tools.

Preferably the individual will also have the following qualities but these are not essential:-

  • Designing for Safe environments.
  • Experience with RF Circuits schematic capture tools
  • Have worked in a batch production environment
  • Able to prioritise work.
  • Have an appreciation of the economics of production.
  • Capable of programming in a high level programming language
