JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Technician
LOCATION: Runcorn, Cheshire
PURPOSE OF ROLE:
To work as part of Mobile Traffic Solutions (MTS) Operations Team ensuring that business objectives and contractual obligations, terms and conditions are met. Carry out engineering duties on MTS equipment to the required standard. Represent MTS both in quality of work and customer service, ensuring compliance where applicable.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To carry out, fault rectification and routine planned maintenance on MTS equipment and systems.
- To participate in an out of hours stand-by system, should a stand-by system be implemented, being called out to rectify faults as required.
- To ensure compliance with all technical and service level requirements.
- To gain and maintain a detailed knowledge of MTS equipment to be maintained.
- To assist with the loading / unloading of units from delivery vehicles.
- On receipt of units from the manufacturer, ensuring that the relevant PDI is carried out and the unit is ready for sale or rental.
- Manage checklists to ensure that all MTS equipment and systems are fit for use and fully operational prior to delivery - and to check and record for damage / condition of equipment upon return from hire.
- Delivering, positioning and collection of units from customer's sites.
- Programming of customers messages into units and advising customers on the capability / functionality of our equipment, to maximise the technical advantage of the equipment.
- To work in accordance with ISO 9001 Quality Systems and Local Working Instructions.
- To work within Environmental and Health and Safety guidelines.
- To carry out risk assessments and method statements.
- To provide feedback for monthly reports.
- To assist with the control of spares.
- Liaison with other organisations.
- To ensure customer satisfaction at all times.
- To show a high level of professionalism at all times.
- Ensure stock returns, time sheets and work sheets are completed in a tidy manner and within the required time scales.
- Ensure vehicles, tools, spares, company clothing and equipment are maintained in a ready and useable condition at all times.
- Carry out tasks as directed by MTS management team.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
- HNC / HND Communication / Electronic qualified
- Basic mechanical knowledge of trailers
- Experience of network communications, including VMS and CCTV, with proven ability of maintenance and fault rectification
- Competency in using MS Word and Excel
- Self motivated with strong communication / interpersonal skills at all levels
- Highly pro active & capable of working effectively in team environment
- Ability to work in an outside high speed environment
- Clean driving licence with minimum of B+E
- Ability to travel / stay away overnight if required
Desirable
- Experience and knowledge of RADAR and ANPR applications
- Competency in all MS Office applications
- Knowledge of XML
- Forklift licence
- Experience and knowledge of tachograph law and operation
This is a 40 hour per week job, 0830 - 1700, with overtime available.
31 days holiday per annum, inclusive of Public Holidays.
Laptop and mobile phone provided.
Annual bonus of 5% depending on achievement of set objectives.
