A Duty Accountant is required to join an international energy business in the Greater Manchester area. As Duty Accountant your role is to ensure compliance and accounting of the excise duty liabilities driven by the company`s operations with responsibility for specific excise terminals. Your main duties include the following;
- Ownership of process to ensure compliance of excise duty data collection, review, consolidation, preparation and payment of monthly duty liability
- Ownership of process to ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting for excise duty in the general ledger in accordance with business timetable
- Responsibility for ensuring any changes in the business (e.g. new terminals or products) are understood and the appropriate actions planned and taken to ensure properly reporting and compliance
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships with all excise duty stakeholders
- Ownership of stock reconciliations to validate balances, movements and blends
- Development and implementations of continuous improvement plan to drive increased quality, efficiency and exceed customer expectations
To be considered, you should be a CIMA/ACA/ACCA Qualified accountant with excellent analytical skills, good problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail. Advanced excel skills are required.
