Director - Business / Customer insight - operations and product development

Our client has a brand new job for a talented Director level candidate to join a newly formed business unit within this global technology and customer led organisation.

You will join a current team of two who have been tasked with defining, planning, and strategising around how technology influences and relates to how they support and drive their commerce vehicle.

They are looking for someone with a passion for technology and best use of it for business and customer improvement.

The position is unique within the organisation because it requires someone to liaise across all business functions (notably Marketing, Customer service), to fully understand the challenges faced by the units and ultimately the customers and end users and apply this knowledge, synthesise the data and other findings and draw up technology driven product solutions to be implemented on a European wide and global basis.

You will be a technology savvy individual who can work seamlessly from executive board level through to the developer / engineer functions and all levels in between to successfully understand the big picture and then apply a well-defined strategy and forward planning structure to improve product and ultimately customer satisfaction.

The successful candidate may come from a strategy management consultancy having worked in their technology practice or perhaps you started you career in software development / engineering and have progressed to a business / commercial focused function.People of interest will have led launches of new technology products in the past and are analytical, objective, and like building things.

You should be a great relationship builder, diplomatic and able to work cross functionally with diverse teams and ideally on a global or at least European wide basis too.

This however is not a pure strategy role it is more focussed on planning, operations, business solutions and product management and development always with the focus on the customer so you should care about customers and be able to engage with them at man on the street level too.

You should ideally have an MBA or least a Masters but they will consider candidates with 10-12 years in a similar role.

This is a unique job and opportunity within a leading commerce organisation that affords the candidate an incredible career with exceptional exposure to the executive board with regular meetings with them on a weekly and monthly basis so a top performer can expect rapid advancement and to ultimately to run their own business unit.

Because the role straddles so many business functions you will not be categorised into one particular business function so great scope to define your career path based on your strengths.

You will be based in Zurich but there will be regular travel up to 50% in Europe and occasionally to the US.

Fluent/native English is essential and other EU languages are a definite plus especially German.
