Major European fashion retailer with global presence seek to appoint a senior Design Manager to take responsibility for their girlswear category. The individual be responsible for the creation of a Strategic Design Brief in line with the Business Unit Strategy. They will have the responsibility of both creating and managing new product designs to fit with the product department strategy.
As well as being able to successfully motivate a team, the individual will also be required to work with the Head of Design to ensure the delivery of design objectives and guarantee the achievement of team development targets.
They will use their knowledge of the market to successfully manage the aesthetic direction for the product departments whilst making sure that their range complements other products/ranges within the company.
The individual will be responsible for working with the Colour and Fabric Designer, briefing buyers on key products and providing input on the marketing plan. They will also provide advice to the Buyer on aspects such as styling and finishes and deliver samples to enable the buyer to make informed decisions.
Knowledge of the concepts of brand strategy and vision is key as is a broad understanding of the current competitive marketplace. They should be skilled in visualising design concepts whilst also having the knowledge to fully utilise the relevant IT support systems.
Finally, the individual will have good communication and interpersonal skills and also be successful in managing and influencing others. They should have effective leadership skills and experience in initiating and maintaining relationships.
