Design Engineer Team Officer

Do you want to get more out of life in your spare time and make the most of your skills? Then there’s an important Territorial Army role waiting for you right now. Not only will you be able to put your existing experience to good use: you’ll also get the chance to gain a whole range of valuable qualifications, including Chartered status.

You’ll supervise a team of skilled engineers involved in the design, construction and contract management of major engineering projects all over the world. We’ll look to you to support and command your team through every phase of the project life cycle, right through from feasibility to delivery.

We need men and women between 17 and 34 with 180 UCAS points and 35 ALIS points at GCSE level [including at least Grade C in Maths, English and a science or foreign language]. You’ll be someone who enjoys taking the lead, making decisions and managing people. An interest or experience in a relevant field such as construction, HR or IT, would be well regarded. A degree is not essential to join as a Royal Engineers Officer, but if you do have a technical degree in Maths, Physics or an Institution Accredited Engineering degree you will have the opportunity to use your specialist skills and gain Chartered status.

Our Territorial Officer Training Programme will teach you how to survive, fire weapons and lead soldiers. Then you’ll attend a modular commissioning course at Sandhurst.  After that, you’ll be a fully fledged team leader, developing your engineering and management skills on general engineering projects or specialisms such as fuels, water, air support or ports. There will also be a wide variety of qualifications you can achieve, including CMI and CIPD membership.

Do More. Be More.
