Design Engineer, Mechanical,

We are recruiting for a mechanical design engineer to join a prestigious and established international business.

As a design engineer you will be playing a key role in the development and production of new products, alongside the modification and project development of existing products.

The design engineers get involved in all stages of product work from initial inception to delivery - as a design engineer you role will include:

• Work in accordance with engineering procedures.
• Produce 3D models and detailed drawings.
• Check drawings conform to standards and for engineering integrity.
• Support Development and Test activity.
• Product verification and validation.
• Attend and occasionally lead Design DFMEAs.
• Perform stress calculations as required
• Carry out maintenance of design activity.
• Maintain product integrity.

There is a strong bias towards FEA and stress calculations in the role, as a large proportion of the work will involve the design of mechanical safety features.

You should come from a strong academic background (ideally 2:1 or higher in a relevant discipline) and have worked in a mechanically biased sector. Whilst experience of a specific drawing package is not essential, you should be able to demonstrate your ability with stress calculations and produce 3D drawings.
