Database Services Manager
Manchester City Centre
Up to £60,000 Per Annum + car allowance + bonus + benefits + pension
Are you an experienced leader and interested in delivering multiple and diverse leading database technologies across different technology platforms, with the world’s largest consumer co-operative?
§ Lead, develop and motivate the team (3 direct reports, 30+ in total) to deliver agreed objectives to improve performance and meet agreed business and personal objectives
§ Ensure a high calibre professional team operate to meet the requirements of the business
§ Develop and deliver the annual operating plan and £5m op-ex budget
§ Lead the development and governance of policies and procedures to deliver continuous improvements
§ Lead the development and delivery of a technical roadmap to maintain the infrastructure ensuring all platforms are fit for purpose
§ Recommend and agree with key stakeholders in the business in order to ensure optimal delivery of their requirements, influencing their decisions so that the most appropriate & strategic solutions are utilised across the society
§ Build and manage key operational relationships with a range of external suppliers to optimise cost, quality and risk and ensure appropriate and timely response to service issues
In this role you will ensure that the organisation wide IT infrastructure strategy and mission critical operational delivery for the database services, are best of breed, fit for purpose, secure and cost effective across the entire Co-operative Group of companies; to enable it to meet its operational, tactical and strategic goals, underpinning all organisational operations with these critical services. § Strong experience of leading and managing a similar size technical service teams to deliver strategic outcomes for the business
§ Strong technical awareness of emerging infrastructure, tools and processes in the market place, especially database technologies
§ Outstanding leadership and people management skills and an ability to build, recruit and develop high performing teams
§ Strong communication skills for both internal management, and liaison with customers, partners and external IT management teams
§ Strong commercial awareness of financial processes terminology, budget responsibility
§ Proven stakeholder management experience – receiving challenged and challenging back, at senior level
§ Knowledge of industry developments in IT technology and solutions for relevant business areas
§ Resilience and ability to cope with pressure and demands of a significant operational role
§ Strong commercial experience through the management / negotiation of contracts with third party hardware / software / IT services providers
