My Client is a commercial law firm based in the heart of London's historic legal district in Lincoln's Inn. Founded in the early 1900s, they have grown to become a thriving, modern practice, providing a comprehensive range of legal services for a wide variety of businesses, individuals and organisations based throughout the UK and overseas.
They are now looking for an experienced Credit Controller to join them, who will work on their own initiative but report in to the Accounts Manager. The role will also work closely with the Chief Executive and the Management Committee as required.
Responsibilities
Initially required to adhere to existing early-stage collection processes, e.g. standard letters.
Responsible for all stages of collection through to legal action, at which point the file will be handed over to the firm’s in-house debt recovery expert.
Responsible for meticulously recording actions taken and information relating to outstanding debts on the firm’s debtors database.
Provide routine and ad-hoc reports to Clients, Fee Earners and Management, and statistics, analysis and forecasts to Management.
Liaise closely with Fee Earners to discuss their debts and with the Accounts Team regarding daily receipts and Client to Office transfers and monitoring of same in compliance with SRA Rule 17.3.
Responsible, under guidance of Accounts Manager, for calculating the firm’s Bad Debt Provision. Monitor and reconcile Cost Recovery Ledger.
Review and develop existing procedures, liaising with the Accounts Manager and IT Department.
Candidate Profile
You will be a Credit Controller from a law firm.
Good knowledge of Excel and Word and a professional, diplomatic manner, with strong negotiation skills.
Must be able to demonstrate sound knowledge of the Solicitors Regulation Authority Rules.
