Organisation Description

Large group of companies in the shipping/logistics industry based outside Colchester.

Job Description

Group Accountant - Main duties:

1. Prepare monthly and annual accounts for UK companies.
2. Maintenance of all account reconciliations
3. Liaise with external auditors
4. Supervise all Sales and Purchase Ledgers activities.
5. Manage credit control and collection.
6. Management of bank accounts including bank reconciliations (GBP and Euro Accounts).
7. Manage cash levels within banking limits.
8. Process monthly salaries, including PAYE returns for UK companies.
9. Produce VAT returns.
10. Maintain suitable financial controls to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial accounting data. Including intercompany reconciliations.
11. Support and provide cover for other members of the accounting department.
12. Support the ongoing development of the Financial Systems and maintain management information systems.
13. Identify areas of business, liquidity and profit improvement.
14. Any other activities that from time to time will be allocated to the role.

Person Specification

ACCA/CIMA or ACA qualified of equivalent
Commercial individual 
Cash management experience
Accuracy and attention to detail
Group experience
