A large organisation in Bristol are recruiting for a Commercial Accountant.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a desire to succeed. Through commercial awareness and experience they will need to provide strategic support and help manage change and various projects.
Job Description
• The Commercial Accountants primary role will be the sole provider of strategic level financial support to the senior management of discrete Specialist Service business units.
• They will positively contribute to strategy development, options analysis and planning, effectively supporting the delivery of change through facilitating decision-making processes and creating opportunities to add value to the bottom line position of their business unit(s).
• The post holder(s) will act as a ‘challenging sparring partner’ balancing effective business partner support with appropriate challenge, delivering strong performance management against agreed strategic targets for the business unit(s).
• Critical to this role will be the ability to demonstrate commercial awareness and business acumen in pursuit of the business unit(s) strategic objectives, in a challenging, competitive environment.
- Integral to this will be financial modelling that leads to an affordable and viable financial plan that is linked to the strategic objectives of the business unit.
- Also support the development of longer term financial plans where appropriate (5-10 year projections).
- Support to the development of a strategic vision / risks / objectives / themes / measures / targets for the business unit along with the development of under pinning work-programmes.
- Production of business unit income plans and price lists, co-ordinating input from across the business unit as appropriate, also providing support to the production of sales market analysis.
Person Specification
- The competence and confidence to shape, steer and positively influence difficult and often contentious outcomes in a variety of forums using persuasion, logic and presentational skills. This will include the ability to constrain within defined limits and persuade / influence a particular course of action.
- The ability to bring an open mind to the funding issues faced by "the unit" and the ability and knowledge to use frameworks, systems and procedure when providing financial support and advice are vital.
-Significant experience operating at a strategic level in a senior leadership role, working with multiple stakeholders, developing and fostering effective partnership approaches, acquired through training and practical experience.
- Extensive experience of financial management and financial modelling within a large, multi-disciplined organisation.
