Our client is looking to recruit a Coating Development Engineer to join their team.

The Coating Development Engineer is responsible for designing and developing new thin-film coating process for a wide range of products, The role requires the ability to assess customer and in-house specifications against current designs, and when required , design thin-film coatings to achieve specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

? Producing process documentation for use by process operators

? Completion of qualification testing in line with various MIL/DIN/ISO specifications, to include writing qualification documentation.

? Daily problem solving on Coating production issues

? Assessing alternative coating techniques and related technologies

? Assessing new deposition techniques and technologies

? Developing new substrate preparation and deposition processes/techniques

? Operating a PVD coating chamber and ideally be able to complete thin film designs and tolerance analysis

Personal Specification:

? Educated to degree level or above, preferably in physics /chemistry based subjects or materials

? The ability to work with and support coating production operators as required

? Confidently liaise with customers on product specifications/performance

? A strong Physics /materials background is essential in order to analyse experimental results

? Excellent attention to detail and good inter-personal skills

The following attributes are considered desirable, but not essential for the role:

? An appreciation of the latest thin-film coating and design technologies and strategies

? Familiarity with a range of thin-film design software packages and a range of analysis techniques, for example: XPS, TOF-SIMS.

? Knowledge of APS and ion assist deposition technologies

? Familiarity with optical monitoring techniques

? Knowledge of Vacuum/Pumping systems.
